Should the All the Files be Filed in the Round File?

There was a season of life predating cell phones when I was matriculating at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. My Poly Sci major provided many opportunities to load up on history classes. It was in the History of Western Civilization course where I experienced the most humdrum professor on campus. He would walk into class, sit down, adjust his glasses, open his textbook and read it out loud. When he finished, he closed the book, stood up, adjusted his glasses, and left the room. This was the same routine all semester.

Ironically though, it was from this fountain of monotonous, historical recitation, I would learn an invaluable truth. It was amazing because, one day, for the first and only time, the professor looked up at the class, took off his glasses, and with all the academic authority conferred on him said this, “You should know, history is just a pack of lies.”

That simple statement could be worth the price of my sheepskin from my Alma Mater. It was paradoxical moment where truth exposed falsehood but might still be true in the end. Enter the newest indoor sport where combing the files for the ‘definitive truth’ is the end game.

Currently, there are a multitude of files to choose from. There are the long-awaited JFK files. You cannot read the JFK files without researching James Files who claims to be the gunman on the grassy knoll behind the white picket fence. His ‘confession’ is on video and is very compelling, but again, it may be just a pack of lies.

A natural path from the JFK files would be to access the MLK and RFK files. No doubt there will eventually be a cry for the CJK (Charlie James Kirk) files. The lesson here is, if your last name begins with K, beware…

The infamous Epstein files have been released. It is reported that much of the content is tawdry or worse, so virtue has taken another hit.

A promise of an unveiling of UFO/UAP files in the near future is coming from a galaxy near you. There has also been a call for the release of the Swalwell files. Oh please,…no!

Let me share with you on a personal level. If you buy me a cup of coffee or mocha, I will tell you what really took place in Dallas, Texas on November 22nd, 1963. It just may be the truth. Then again, maybe not. Two cups of coffee or mocha and we get into the UFO/UAP’s. You should know, however, the files I am really interested in are X-Files, and Rockford Files. After all, they are on rerun over and over so they must be true files.

We can sleuth our way to a conclusion in each of the files as we understand it (hence the coffee time), yet a better use of our time would be to focus on true truth as stated in John 14:6 Jesus said to him (Thomas), “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. The implications of this verse are true and eternal.

The devil will use anything at his disposal to keep us away from the plum line of truth, which is the Word of God. Yes, the diabolical schemer will even employ reams of paper to fill files, which may or may not be authentic, to his advantage.

In 2 Timohty 2:3-4 Paul provided a warning to Timothy to avoid getting caught up in the concerns of this world, Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

The Greek word for entangle is emplekō, which literally means: to entwine; to braid together; to become involved or entangled in something.

What we will find with truth-seeking in the above files is that justice demanded becomes justice denied. Therefore, no one ever seems to end up in an orange jumpsuit with extended stay privileges at the Crowbar Inn, courtesy of you, the taxpayer.

Conversely, we have Proverbs 16:20 He who gives attention to the word will find good,
And blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.
And for this conversation I will buy the coffee, or the mocha.

Three Lessons We Have Not Learned in a Time for War?   04/11/26

In the Wisdom literature of the Bible, we have a chrono-calendar of seasons of events which, in many ways, form the parameters of a fallen world. Ecclesiastes 3 :1 sets the tone, There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven-

These events are presented as opposites with some being more troubling than others. Consider the final opposites in verse 8, A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.

The morality police are hard at work doing all they can to eliminate hate. I see signs in the hood, “No hate in our state.” In places like the U.K. and other places, hate speech can include reading Bible verses out loud in public. Canada is wrestling with how hate speech is defined, which of course is always the problem.

We could all just love each other if it wasn’t for the epidemic of sin. It is a universal disease we all know too often morphs into a time for war.

Let me share with you three lessons from a time for war with Iran we need to learn.

Lesson number 1: Developing a strategy for destabilizing a tyrannical regime in such a way as to incite and embolden oppressed peoples to take over and reset the government is a very noble cause. It is also very naive to think it could take place with an unarmed populace.

History proves this point. Just look back at the regimes of Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin who severely restricted gun ownership while Pol Pot eliminated private gun ownership altogether. These monsters of history have a combined death toll of about 100 million people.

The bottom line for America is we need to protect out 2nd Amen-demnt Rights. It is the final-defense-last-gasp-protection any citizenry has against a tyrannical government.

Iran slaughtered between 30-50 thousand of their own people for the crime of daring to long for freedom. With no means of self-defense their dreams of becoming unshackled is in reality, a nightmare of suicide.

Lesson number 2: Everyone wants the time for peace event to kick in. In this instance there is a piece of the diplomatic puzzle seemingly ignored. Iran is Shia Muslim. Their religious belief includes the return of the Mahdi, a future savior directed by God who will bring ‘justice’ to the earth. They will die for this belief. In addition, many Shia’s also belief that violence and destruction will usher Mahdi in.

Their understanding of justice is for Big Satan America, and Little Satan Israel to be wiped off the map as it were. Consider Koran 3:26 Let not believers make friends with infidels in preference to the faithful-he that does this has nothing to hope from God-except in self-dense, God admonishes you to fear Him: for to God shall all return.

Iran has lied about their nuclear program, and they will lie their way through peace negotiations. Thus, proving once again, “In war, truth is the first casualty.”— Aeschylus

A time for war with Iran. You hear the cry, “This war has been going on for 47 years! It is time to finish it!”

There is truth in them fightin’ words. I personally have developed a simple belief about war over the years. It goes, like this: “Don’t ever go to war. But if you do go to war, then go to war.” Translation-do whatever it takes to finish the mission, go home, and do not come back. If you don’t finish the mission, you will be back…

Lesson number 3: We bailed Europe of out of WWI and WWII with precious American blood. Since then, we have paid for and carried the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to the tune of 16% of their annual budget. Yet, when we asked them for assistance to keep the straits of Hormuz open the request fell upon cowardly deaf ears. Proverbs 25:19 Like a bad tooth and an unsteady foot is confidence in a faithless man in time of trouble. I don’t know about you but my tooth hurts.

Some advice from the warnings of the Amityville Horror, “Gettt OUUUUT!!!”

Lessons 1 &2 we should already know. Lesson 3 has become very apparent in recent weeks.

This doxology is attribute to Winston Churchill, “History is written by the victors.” We will never be victors unless we learn at least these three lessons in this, a time of war with Iran. In the meantime, we pray for a time of peace.
