Should the All the Files be Filed in the Round File?
There was a season of life predating cell phones when I was
matriculating at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. My Poly Sci
major provided many opportunities to load up on history classes. It was in the History
of Western Civilization course where I experienced the most humdrum professor
on campus. He would walk into class, sit down, adjust his glasses, open his textbook
and read it out loud. When he finished, he closed the book, stood up, adjusted
his glasses, and left the room. This was the same routine all semester.
Ironically though, it was from this fountain of
monotonous, historical recitation, I would learn an invaluable truth. It was
amazing because, one day, for the first and only time, the professor looked up
at the class, took off his glasses, and with all the academic authority conferred
on him said this, “You should know, history is just a pack of lies.”
That simple statement could be worth the price of my sheepskin
from my Alma Mater. It was paradoxical moment where truth exposed falsehood but
might still be true in the end. Enter the newest indoor sport where combing the
files for the ‘definitive truth’ is the end game.
Currently, there are a multitude of files to choose from.
There are the long-awaited JFK files. You cannot read the JFK files without
researching James Files who claims to be the gunman on the grassy knoll behind
the white picket fence. His ‘confession’ is on video and is very compelling,
but again, it may be just a pack of lies.
A natural path from the JFK files would be to access the MLK
and RFK files. No doubt there will eventually be a cry for the CJK (Charlie
James Kirk) files. The lesson here is, if your last name begins with K, beware…
The infamous Epstein files have been released. It is
reported that much of the content is tawdry or worse, so virtue has taken
another hit.
A promise of an unveiling of UFO/UAP files in the near
future is coming from a galaxy near you. There has also been a call for the
release of the Swalwell files. Oh please,…no!
Let me share with you on a personal level. If you buy me
a cup of coffee or mocha, I will tell you what really took place in Dallas, Texas
on November 22nd, 1963. It just may be the truth. Then again, maybe
not. Two cups of coffee or mocha and we get into the UFO/UAP’s. You should know,
however, the files I am really interested in are X-Files, and Rockford Files.
After all, they are on rerun over and over so they must be true files.
We can sleuth our way to a
conclusion in each of the files as we understand it (hence the coffee
time), yet a better use of our time would be to focus on true truth as stated
in John 14:6 Jesus said to him (Thomas), “I am the way,
and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through
Me. The implications of this verse are true and eternal.
The devil will use anything at
his disposal to keep us away from the plum line of truth, which is the Word of
God. Yes, the diabolical schemer will even employ reams of paper to fill files,
which may or may not be authentic, to his advantage.
In 2 Timohty 2:3-4 Paul provided
a warning to Timothy to avoid getting caught up in the concerns of this world, 3 Suffer
hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No
soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday
life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.
The Greek word for entangle
is emplekō, which literally means: to entwine; to braid together; to
become involved or entangled in something.
What we will find with
truth-seeking in the above files is that justice demanded becomes justice
denied. Therefore, no one ever seems to end up in an orange jumpsuit with
extended stay privileges at the Crowbar Inn, courtesy of you, the taxpayer.
Conversely, we have Proverbs
16:20 He who gives attention to the word will find good,
And blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. And for this
conversation I will buy the coffee, or the mocha.
